Brows (Brow lift)

Botulinum toxin injections will allow your forehead muscles to relax, elevating the brow and creating a more youthful appearance. Botulinum toxin injection being strategically injected into your brow area, the difference is subtle, but impactful. From a fatigued, sinking complexion to a defined, awake-looking aspect, the desired outcome is just a few punctures away.

Occasionally, if the personal case requires it, extra Botox injections can be applied at the ends of a patient’s eyebrows. The purpose of this is to ensure these muscles relax so the forehead muscles pull up this area.

Secondly, by injecting a dermal filler underneath the eyebrow, support can be given to the eyebrow to elevate the eyebrow up. Usually 1/2 to 1 syringe of product is required in this area. It also helps to soften the bony orbital rim around the eyebrows, leading to a softer and more youthful appearance. The ‘skeletonisation’ of the brow is a feature of the ageing process and by placing fillers on the bony rim, we can soften this area and reduce the visibility of the underlying skull.

Finally, dermal fillers can be used in the middle half of the upper lid/brow to help reduce the apparent sag of the eyelids. Usually, upper eyelids droop from the outer half first, and this makes the middle half look relatively hollow. By filling the middle half of the brow/eyelid, this balances the appearance of the upper eyelid and reduces the apparent droop of the eyelid (see case study below).

Contrary to public opinion, botulinum toxin treatment does not “tighten” the facial muscles. The success of a brow lift lies in relaxing the muscles which normally pull the brow down, and leaving the muscles which lift the brows activated. This means there will be some wrinkling still when lifting the brow.

Not everyone is suitable for a brow lift, and results are limited by personal anatomy. Your practitioner will discuss your options with you
